Shopping the Sales?
Here's my hot tips when browsing the bargains...
I’m always a huge fan of a fab find and sale item! June/July is a great time to snap up a bargain as brands have all their Winter stock on sale, and often do ‘further’ discount on already reduced items! Yipppee!
BUT… sales can also be overwhelming. So much stock, such low prices, and pressure to buy now or miss out… no one wants to end up with items gathering dust in the wardrobe (still with tags on them!)
So I’m here to help! Scroll down for my hot tips to shop the sales, smarter. I’m also sharing some fab finds that I highly recommend!
SALE SHOPPING TIPS
Check your wardrobe: So often we forget what we have! If you already have plenty of black tops, avoid buying more; If you already have great coats, consider boots; If you love wear jeans regularly, add in a denim midi skirt! Look for the gaps, and items that may need replacing - to avoid spontaneous and unnecessary purchases.
Write a List: Once you’ve identified what your missing or needing to replace, and put it in a list (I add it in my notes in my phone!). It may be two items, it may be five. But it helps to remind you to shop ONLY those items, and remind you why you need them. They will add value to your wardrobe, not make it cluttered!
Shop brands you know: Particularly during sales, when stores are chocka’s with sale racks and online shopping is daunting… it’s SO much easier to shop brands you have tried on or already own. This way you can pick your size quicker, and know the fit and quality. Your less likely waste time in change rooms and online browsing, and more likely to buy an item you LOVE and wear!
Use the filters: These are a huge time saver! Filter by your size, the item, even the colour and quality. You may also use a ‘filter’ in stores, by avoiding ‘old’ stock. Brands can be known to put out dated stock from a few seasons back, that they cannot sell (and that’s why - because it looks dated, was a bad fit, or could be bad quality!). Try to buy recent season that has just gone on sale - you won’t get over it quickly, and will wear it longer!
Check return policy: This is important, as brands may offer an exchange on sale items - or no return! This means you are stuck with the item, even if you leave the tags on. SO shop with caution and check the T&C’s!
