PART ONE : DECLUTTER MADE SIMPLE
HELPFUL TIPS
COATHANGERS - remove the empty ones! These take up unnecessary space & create clutter.
DECLUTTER - don't try and do it all at once - pick a section and try to remove 3 items. Pop them in a bag, hide them for a week, and then decide if you keep or donate. Remember, your trash is someone else's treasure, and it's always important to create space for new shopping purchases you buy now and then!
DIVIDE - you may keep a section for work style (particularly if corporate), so it makes it easier to style items you only wear for work that don't overlap into weekend (eg. suits, tailored items, etc.)
PART TWO : RE-ORGANISE LIKE A BOSS!
HELPFUL TIPS
SEASONS - always store your heavy coats & boots away during Summer, and vice versa. Store your dresses, shorts swimwear and high summer items away during Winter.
DRAWERS / SHELVES - depending on how much you have I recommend these for underwear, hosiery, sleepwear, activewear and some (or all) knitwear.
HANGING BY CATEGORIES - I truely believe this is the best way to store your items. You can then see what you own clearly, can put an outfit together with ease, and get ready quicker! Depending on hanging space, I recommend:
Start with tops... CAMIS - TANKS - TSHIRTS - BLOUSES - SHIRTS - KNITWEAR - BLAZERS
then... MIDI SKIRTS - TROUSERS - DRESSES - TRANSEASONAL COATS
PART THREE : STORAGE SOLUTIONS
HELPFUL TIPS
FLOCKED COATHANGERS - The flocked velvet coated hangers are non-slip and so slim line for wardrobe space!
CLIP HANGERS - are perfect for skirts and trousers.Try to get ones with the rubber detail on the inside of the clip to protect your clothes.
WOOD HANGERS - I recommend for heavier items, like particularly blazers and coats.
SHOES - you may have a shoe rack along the bottom of your wardrobe, fabric shoe storage you hang from your wardrobe, or clear stackable shoe boxes
SHELVES - you can get 'hangable' fabric style shelves that attach & hang from your wardrobe, these are so affordable and perfect if you need more shelving/drawers for folded items
ACCESSORY BOXES - for jewellery, belts, scarves etc. Or I love to use the nice cardboard shopping bags from retail stores - and good for the environment too!
HOOKS - consider removable (or permanent) hooks on the inside of your wardrobe, or on the back a door. These can be perfect for hanging necklaces, belts, scarves, hats. And a great way to maximise your wardrobe space.
